Hello TJL Families,

I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend! As a reminder, school will be closed tomorrow in celebration and recognition of Eid al-Fitr. Eid is a time of joy, reflection, and togetherness for many in our community, marking the end of Ramadan. We extend our warmest wishes to all of our students and families who celebrate, may your day be filled with peace and happiness.

I would also like to take a moment to express my gratitude to our PTA and SEPTA for their continued support in bringing enriching programs to our students.

March was an exciting month at TJL, thanks to our Arts in Education programming funded by the PTA. Our third graders explored Australian culture through A Taste of Australia and created original paintings. Fourth graders learned about water conservation and built aquifers through the North Shore Land Alliance Water Program. Meanwhile, our fifth graders were amazed by BMX rider Chris Poulos, who not only showcased incredible stunts but also delivered an inspiring message about kindness, respect, and inclusivity.

Important Info to Share

Update – TJL Food Service Program

Did you know you can view purchases your child is making on the MySchoolBucks Parent Portal? We know that parents/guardians may be curious about what their child is purchasing to eat during the day. If you feel your child is purchasing more items (snacks, etc.) than you approve of or would like the purchases limited, you have options, including adding a note to the student's account to limit or deny purchases. Should you need to restrict student purchases please contact our food service department at (631) 754-5320 Ext 6326 or 6351. You can also email your request to the district’s food service director, Mariah Tyrell, at Tyrellm@harbrfielscsd.org. 

3/31-Monday- Schools are Closed for Eid al-Fitr

All HF Schools are closed on Monday.

4/1-Tuesday- SEPTA Autism Acceptance Month Assembly

We encourage all students and staff to wear a multicolored shirt or bright colors on Tuesday, 4/1 as we kick off Autism Acceptance Month. If you purchased shirts through the SEPTA bundle, Tuesday is the perfect time to wear your multicolored shirt!

We are incredibly grateful to SEPTA for bringing author Amy McCoy to TJL on Tuesday, April 1st, to help us celebrate the start of Autism Acceptance Month! Our students have been reading Little Big Sister in class, and they are excited to meet Amy McCoy in person. SEPTA

4/2-Wednesday- TJL PTA Math 24 Event

Students who signed up for Math 24 will stay after school on Wednesday, April 2nd, for the event. Pickup is at 5:30 PM. For safety and efficiency, we ask that parents and guardians enter the school and wait in the lobby area until the event is over.

Thank you for your support...we look forward to an exciting and engaging session for our Math 24 participants!
