Student Expectation Assemblies

Posted Date: 9/04/25 (5:01 PM)

Hello TJL Families,

Today, our students participated in orientation and behavior expectation assemblies where we introduced this year’s Lion’s Mane Mission and talked about what it means to be Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Inclusive at TJL. Students heard from me, Dr. Horowitz, and our Student Support Team, who shared how these values help guide us each day. “Respectful, Responsible, Safe every day — Inclusive at TJL, it’s the Lion Way.”

We focused especially on safety and how it applies in all areas of school life, including the bus. The students all know that unsafe behavior on the bus will not be tolerated. If a student engages in unsafe behavior, parents/guardians will receive an immediate phone call home, and the student will complete a bus reflection during recess. We are hopeful that this proactive step will help all students remain mindful of safe bus behavior.

Some reminders for safe riding:

  • Stay seated while the bus is moving
  • Never jump
  • Speak in a respectful voice (no yelling or screaming)
Students are also bringing home our TJL Code of Conduct. We ask that you review it with your child and return the signed copy to school by Wednesday, September 10th. For your convenience, it is also linked here.

We reminded students that we love to have fun at TJL! That’s only possible when everyone is showing safe, respectful, responsible, and inclusive behavior. With your partnership, we know this will be an enriching and exciting school year for all of our Lahey Lions!

With appreciation,
Mrs. Jen Washington, Principal
Dr. Andrea Horowitz, Assistant Principal
