TJL Weekly Update

2/2-2/6

TJL
Dear TJL Families,

On Friday, we kicked off PARP with so much excitement and enthusiasm! It was wonderful to see our students diving into their reading and embracing the joy of books. Keep up the great reading this week, and don’t forget to track your progress along the way! A huge thank you to our incredible PTA and dedicated parent volunteers for making our TJL PARP kickoff such a fun and meaningful experience for our students.

This past weekend, our 5th Grade Theater Club put on a truly phenomenal performance. We could not be prouder of all they accomplished. Bravo to our talented students and the staff who supported them behind the scenes!

We also had the pleasure of celebrating our TJL Reflections participants and winners on Thursday. Congratulations to all of our students who shared their creativity and talents. Your efforts and artistic voices are something to be proud of!

As we look ahead, please take a moment to review the information below outlining the exciting events and activities planned for the week ahead. There is so much to look forward to at TJL!

Wishing you a fantastic day,
Mrs. Washington

Save the Date- February 9th- Parent Workshop

We are excited to invite you to a special parent workshop taking place at TJL on February 9th at 7pm @ TJL, titled “Unlocking Leadership at Home.” This engaging evening will focus on helping children build confidence, develop strong leadership skills, and learn healthy ways to navigate conflict.

As part of our ongoing work with students around our Lion’s Mane Mission- Being Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Inclusive, we are thrilled to partner with the Long Island Coalition Against Bullying for this important event. The workshop will be led by Joe Salamone, Founder and Executive Director of LICAB, who works with school districts across Long Island to support students and families in building positive relationships and strong communication skills.
During the session, families will learn:
  • How to help children grow into confident leaders
  • The importance of empathetic listening and communication
  • Practical strategies for supporting children through conflict
  • How to approach conversations at home and respond thoughtfully to what children may share
We truly believe that all students have the capability to be leaders, and this workshop will provide valuable tools to help nurture those skills at home.
This event is open to all parents of students in grades K–8.
To support families, our Makerspace and Library will be open with supervision, offering a fun and safe space for children while parents attend the workshop.

We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful evening of learning and connection!
