Hello TJL Families,

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our amazing TJL moms, grandmothers, and caregivers! I hope you are enjoying a beautiful day filled with love, laughter, and special moments with your families. Thank you for all that you do each and every day for your children and our TJL community.

We are also looking forward to a wonderful Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week ahead! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible PTA for planning such thoughtful celebrations for our faculty and staff throughout the week. We are so grateful for their continued partnership and generosity. Thank you as well to all of our families for your donations, kindness, and support in helping make this week so special for the people who care for and support our students every day.

It will also be another exciting week at TJL and throughout Harborfields! We are looking forward to our 4th Grade Orchestra and Chorus Concert on Monday evening and celebrating the hard work and talents of our student musicians. On Friday, our 5th-grade orchestra, band, and chorus members will participate in the Harborfields Music Festival before heading off to Adventureland for what is sure to be a fun and memorable day together.

I also want to remind families about the SEPTA Urban Air Playdate on Friday, May 15th. Be sure to check out the flyer below for more information. We hope many of our families can attend and enjoy this fun community event!

Important Information

5/11- 4th Grade Chorus and Orchestra Concert

4th Grade Chorus and Orchestra students should be prepared for their daytime concert at TJL on Monday, 5/11, and the evening concert starting at 7pm at HHS. Please arrive at HHS at your designated time. We can't wait!

5/13- 5th Grade NYS Science Assessment

We will administer the 5th Grade NYS Science Assessment on 5/13. Please click here for detailed information previously sent in March.

5/13- Incoming 3rd Grade Parent/Guardian Visitation

We are excited to welcome our incoming 3rd-grade parents/guardians to TJL this Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Families will have the opportunity to learn all about TJL and what makes our school such a special place. We can’t wait to see you all!

5/15- Harborfields Music Festival and Adventureland Trip

Important Details for All TJL Students:

Drop-off: All TJL students need to be dropped off at Oldfield Middle School (OMS) by 9:15 AM and enter through the front door wearing their Tye-Dye Harborfields Music Tee Shirt. Transportation will not be provided from TJL to OMS that day. Students should not bring backpacks as they will not be attending classes. However, they should bring their instruments and music with them to OMS. Upon arrival, students will report directly to the auditorium.

5/15- Wear Green Friday- Mental Health Awareness

Throughout the month of May, our TJL school community is encouraged to wear green every Friday to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month. Green represents hope, kindness, and support for mental health and wellness.

By wearing green, we can help promote kindness, support for one another, and spread TJL pride! We invite all staff and students to join us each Friday in May (starting tomorrow!) by wearing green to show that mental health matters.

SEPTA- Urban Air Playdate- May 15th

We are excited to share that Harborfields SEPTA will be hosting an Urban Air Playdate on Friday, May 15th, from 5:30–8:30 PM at Urban Air in Dix Hills. This fun and inclusive event is open to all and is a great opportunity for our students to connect, play, and enjoy an evening together.

The cost is $45 per child and includes pizza, drinks, and socks. Please note that this is not a drop-off event, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Click here to purchase a ticket!

We hope many of our TJL families will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to come together and have some fun!

OMS STEAM Fair- May 21st

We are excited to share that Oldfield Middle School will be hosting their 5th Annual STEAM Fair on May 21st at 7:00 PM in the OMS Auditorium! This is a wonderful opportunity for our TJL students and families to experience the incredible world of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Students will have the chance to explore amazing projects, participate in hands-on activities, enjoy engineering challenges, and even see robots in action. It’s always a fun and inspiring evening, and a great way for our students to get a glimpse of what’s ahead at OMS.

We hope to see many of our TJL families there!
