TJL Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

The school day is 9:20 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The safety of our students is our highest priority. We appreciate your cooperation in following these procedures to help ensure a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal each day.

Morning Arrival

Student Drop-Off

Students who are driven to school may begin entering the building at 9:00 a.m. Please wait for a member of our security team or administration to signal that drop-off has begun before allowing your child to exit the vehicle.

To ensure student safety, the driveway in front of the school is reserved exclusively for school buses during arrival. Families dropping off students should use the designated Student Drop-Off Zone located in the West Parking Lot.

To help keep traffic moving smoothly:

• Have your child ready to exit the vehicle upon arrival.
• Encourage your child to exit the vehicle promptly when you reach the drop-off area.
• Please remain in your vehicle and follow the directions of staff members.

Early Morning Activities

Students participating in an early morning activity will receive a designated arrival time from their activity advisor and should enter through the Main Entrance.

Dismissal Procedures

Dismissal is staggered to ensure a safe and orderly departure. Walkers and student pick-ups are dismissed first, followed by bus dismissal.

Walker & Pick-Up Definitions

• True Walkers: Students who are not assigned a bus and live within walking distance of the school.
• Permanent Pick-Ups: Students who are assigned a bus but are picked up from school every day.
• Daily Pick-Ups: Students who are assigned a bus but are picked up from school on an occasional basis.

Walkers & Student Pick-Ups

Student pick-up dismissal begins at 3:20 p.m.

• Please park your vehicle before walking to the designated pick-up location.
• Families with more than one child should report to the pick-up location of their oldest child.
• Please refer to the diagram for the designated pick-up locations for each grade level.

Bus Dismissal

Bus dismissal begins at 3:30 p.m., and buses typically depart TJL by 3:45 p.m.

During the first week of school, please anticipate that buses may arrive at their assigned bus stops later than usual as drivers become familiar with routes and routines. If there are any significant delays, updates will be communicated through ParentSquare.

To ensure a safe and organized dismissal:

• Third-grade students are dismissed to the buses first.
• All students are escorted to their assigned bus by their classroom teacher.
• Please review your child's bus number and bus stop with them before the first day of school so they feel confident with their dismissal routine.
• All third-grade students will receive a bus tag to attach securely to their backpack to help staff identify them during the first few weeks of school.
