Good afternoon TJL Families,

We had a wonderful first two days back at TJL! On Friday, our students gathered for our first school-wide meeting to learn about our Lion’s "Mane" Mission: Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Inclusive. We talked about how we can all help make TJL a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.

Students also received a copy of the TJL Code of Conduct to review with their families. Please be sure to sign and return it to your child’s classroom teacher by September 10th.

It was a great start to the school year as students settled into their classrooms, learned new routines, and reconnected with friends and staff. We are looking forward to a wonderful week ahead!

On Friday, September 11th, we will observe Patriot Day at TJL. To honor this important day of remembrance and to show our unity as a school community, we invite all students and staff to wear red, white, and blue to school.

This week, we will be conducting our first fire drill. These notifications are provided to help you, if necessary, have conversations with your child to ensure they feel comfortable and prepared. As part of our commitment to student and staff safety, we conduct various safety drills throughout the school year. The purpose of these drills is to help everyone become familiar with our emergency procedures and respond quickly and effectively should a real emergency occur.

We are excited to offer Girls on the Run for students in grades 3–5 this fall! This fun and empowering program helps girls build confidence, develop important life skills, celebrate what makes them unique, and connect with one another. The season will conclude with a celebratory 5K at Eisenhower Park! 

The program begins the week of September 28th and meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30–4:45 PM. Click here for additional information. 

Looking for a little extra academic support? Study Buddies connects students with Harborfields High School student volunteers in grades 9–12 who can provide help with homework, studying, and exam preparation.

Study Buddies meets on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the school year from 4:00–6:00 PM at the Harborfields Public Library. Families can sign up for a 30-minute session directly through the Harborfields Public Library website. Sessions are limited, so be sure to register early! Click here for further details.
