Good morning TJL Families,

We had a wonderful and meaningful Student Monthly Meeting this past Friday, where we introduced our “We Before Me” Sportsmanship Challenge! Together, we discussed the importance of teamwork, kindness, and good sportsmanship, especially during recess. Students were encouraged to think about how their actions impact others and how putting “We Before Me” helps make recess a fun, safe, and inclusive experience for everyone!

We are excited to put our Sportsmanship Contract into action and will be on the lookout for students demonstrating positive “We Before Me” behaviors at recess! We look forward to celebrating these moments and continuing to build a school community where everyone feels included and valued.

Wishing all of our TJL families a wonderful week ahead!

Get ready, TJL! The Harlem Wizards are returning this Tuesday, October 13th, for our WizFit Graduation Assembly! We're excited to celebrate two weeks of fitness, fun, and school spirit with our students!

Don't miss your chance to see the Harlem Wizards take on our very own Harborfields Teaching Tornadoes on Friday, November 6th! It's going to be an unforgettable night of basketball, laughs, and Harborfields spirit!

Although our in-school challenge wraps up on Tuesday, families can continue to register, share fundraising links, and collect donations through October 20th to support improvements to TJL outdoor learning and activity spaces! Sign up here: https://harlemwizardsinabox.com/wizfitchallenge

All earned WizFit prizes will be distributed after the full fundraising program ends on October 20th, hopefully within approximately one week.

Thank you, TJL families, for your incredible participation and support! Let's keep the momentum going!

This Wednesday, October 14th, we will be taking the 5th Grade Class Panoramic Photo. Individual and class photos for all grades will be on October 26th, 27th, and 28th. Schedule to come at a later date.

The TJL PTA invites you to participate in the 2026 Read-In! Please refer to the class schedule for your student’s assigned date and time, and complete the sign-up form by Friday, October 16.

Date: October 20 & October 22

We are excited to invite all TJL students to participate in the 2026–2027 PTA Reflections Program! This year’s theme, “What My Culture Means to Me,” encourages students to express their creativity through art, photography, writing, music, dance, or film. We can't wait to see the unique talents and perspectives of our students!

Submissions are due November 6, 2026, and should be turned in to your child's classroom teacher. Please see the attached flyer and entry packet for more information!
